Speaker Series | Rowing the Irish Currach

Currachs are a traditional Irish skin-on-frame boat used for work and racing.

The Club will talk about the history and modern resurgence of the traditional Irish craft. The Great Lakes Center will also give an overview of its mission to monitor, study, and protect the Great Lakes and their ecosystems. Then we will put the boats on the water to see how they're rowed. Sign up to try your skills at rowing with the club. But spots are limited.

The Albany Irish Rowing Club competes in currach regattas across the US and in Ireland. The club recently returned from a regatta in Ireland this September.

This event is free and open to the public.
